All I Want.mid - R Kelly
R Kelly of Public Announcement
R. Kelly, was born Robert Sylvester Kelly on January 8th, 1969 in
Chicago. His musical career received a boost when he was in high
school, thanks to his music teacher, which ultimately kept him free from
the lifestyle of his peers. High school meant talent shows which gave
him enough confidence to become a street performer. It was just a
matter of time before he attracted the attention of a representative
from Jive records. Along with his band, Public Announcement, R Kelly
acquired an audience. "Born Into the 90s," their 1992 debut album
reached number 3 on the R&B charts and generated four successful singles
before reaching platinum in sales. The next year, 1993, Kelly released
a solo effort, "12 Play," which equalled the success of the first album,
achieving another platinum.
His successes made him much in demand as a collaborator/producer, and he worked with Michael and Janet Jackson, as well as Mary J. Blige, Luther Vandross, and Toni Braxton. Robert Kelly became a mentor and producer for the tragic star, Aaliyah, contributing greatly to her early success. The following year, 1994, Kelly secretly married the underage star. The marriage was quickly annulled when the world found out, the two stars eventually going their separate ways. After 1995, R. Kelly reduced the explicit slant to his works, in spite of which he continued to find success. His contributions to movie soundtracks were significantly successful, and a later duet with Puff Daddy preceded his third solo release that had guest efforts from Foxy Brown, Jay-Z, and Celine Dion. His platinum releases continued into the early years of the new millenium. Scandal plagued his career but did little to interfere with his musical successes and 2003's "Chocolate Factory," topped the charts on its way to platinum status. R. Kelly has won a variety of Grammy's, including Best Song For a Motion Picture, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best Rhythm and Blues Song (all 1997). 15hqqh.
