Uh Huh.mid - B2K
Omarion of B2K
Omarion was born Omari Ishmael Grandberry, on November 12, 1984 at Los
Angeles, California. Along with partner members, De'mario Monte
Thornton (Raz-B), Jarell Damonte Houston
(J-Boog), and Druex Pierre Fredericks (Lil Fizz), the foursome hit the
charts in 2002 with single "Uh Huh." The previous summer they had
opened the Lil Bow Wow US tour, having been discovered at an Epic
Records talent showcase. Their debut album reached number 2 on the
Billboard 200 in March 2002. After collaborating with P. Diddy, their
single "Bump, Bump, Bump" achieved number 1 on the US singles chart in
early 2003. Later that year they started work on a soundtrack that would
feature the quartet.
In December 2003, "You Got Served" was released, but weeks later and
just before the film's release, B2K split up. It appears crafty
management took advantage of the boys naivete. This drove a wedge
between the career-minded Omarion and the other three, who were just
waking up to the real world of sharks who would prey on them. The boys
never showed up for a Philadelphia concert during a tour along with
Omarion. Omarion writes about the incident in his 2005 memoir, O, but
perhaps he avoids the real issues. Omarion's single, "O" started at
Number 59 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Another popular
single from the album is "I'm Tryin."
