Brooke Valentine
Brooke Valentine was born October 5th, 1985 in Houston, Texas. She
started singing at an early age, and in order to overcome her shyness,
she was encouraged by her family to sing solo in church each Sunday.
She quickly adapted to experience, and her natural talent became a dream
career. A friend, Deja, who equally had a dream, to be a music
producer, saw her potential and introduced her two more singers who
combined to form the group BKS, or "Best Kept Secret." Brooke was
fourteen at the time. The group engaged in touring and performing but
without major recognition, the group dissolved, and it wasn't until two
years later when Brooke and Deja moved to LA in 2002 where they made a
demo that effectively impressed the executives at Virgin Records who
were quick to sign up the youthful talent.
Another two years passed, with gruelling training and practise before Brooke was ready to tackle a debut album. Brooke wrote and recorded the album in just under five months and in March of 2005, "Chain Letter" was released. The first song to become a hit was "Girlfight." It conquered the airwaves and national clubs. The song and the album introduced the world to Brooke Valentine, attracting collaborative efforts from professional performers and producers. The hit song was followed by a video and a promotional tour of radio and television. A month after the release of the album, Rolling Stone magazine was announcing that Brooke Valentine was among the top "10 Artists to Watch." 15hqqh. ![]() ![]()
